A. Clerk & Co Reels

A Clerk & Co - New York, NY

A. Clerk & Co reels were sold by them between 1857 and 1876. Andrew and his brother William succeeded the J. & T. Warrin business in 1857. They were in turn succeeded by the firm Abbey & Imbrie in 1876, in which Andrew Clerk was made a special partner. Clerk did not make his reels, but had them made for him by businesses like J.C. Conroy. Andrew became a full partner with Abbey & Imbrie in 1881 after the death of Mr. Abbey. In 1886 Andrew Clerk died at the age of 74. A. Clerk & Co reels are considered to be one of the great reels sold by the early New York tackle houses.
