Cabo Blanco and Fishing Clubs Award Pins and Medals

Cabo Blanco & Club pins were offered if the fish caught met the minimum weight requirements. Other Clubs included Tuna Cup Match and Cat Cay. Giving out award and honor badges by fishing organizations has always been a tradition. Below are some examples of the badge variations. The Cabo Blanco Fishing Club in Peru was the exclusive fishing club where the world record marlin was caught by Alfred Glassell. Founded in 1951 by Kip Farrington, membership was limited to 20 members with a yearly fee of $10,000. Kip Farrington's participation and the availability of large marlin made the club famous. The Tuna Cup Match in Nova Scotia was held in the 1940's with teams competing from the US, Canada and the UK. Once again, Kip Farrington's participation made the event receive world wide attention. Cat Cay is a private island in the Bahamas with a private yacht club that also held fishing tournaments. The Cabo Blanco pins, the Tuna Cup pins, the Cat Cay pins and other Club pins are very collectable. These medals and badges are sought after by collectors today.
