W. Mitchell Fly Reels
William Mitchell - New York, NY
William Mitchell is best known for his quality bamboo rod making in the 1870's and 1880's. He also sold a fly reel. Mitchell received a patent on January 9, 1883 for a hollow fly rod butt.
To go along with his fine fly rods, he also sold a high quality small fly reel. The reel was made for him by Julius vom Hofe and had the name "Mitchell, NY" stamped on it.
