J. Warrin Fishing Reels

J. Warrin - New York, NY

J. Warrin fishing reels were sold in the 1850's. The business was known in the 1840's for importing their drilled eye needles and fish hooks. Their business partner in Redditch, England was Joseph Warrin from whom they received the imports. John and Thomas Warrin ran the sporting goods store in New York City. John made and bought the fishing tackle and Thomas ran the store and did the advertising. In the 1850's is when John Warrin started his fishing reel business. He was assigned the rights of John Bailey's August 5, 1856 and Edward Deacon's February 10, 1857 reel patents. The business of J. & T. Warrin was succeeded by the group Clerk, Green & Baker in 1860. J. Warrin fishing reels are considered to be from one of the great early New York tackle houses.
